Expectations

bulletStudents are not allowed to enter the laboratory unless a teacher is present.
bulletStudents must come to class properly equipped. Penalty for coming to class without the workbook: 2 points off next homework.
bulletHomework assignments are to be recorded in the agenda.
bulletAny loose papers such as photocopies are to be pasted or taped into the notebooks.
bulletHomework is to be submitted on time. Penalty for lateness: 2 points per class late.
bulletSafety goggles are to be worn whenever Bunsen burners are in use and at other times as instructed by the teacher.
bulletEating and drinking in the laboratory are forbidden.
bulletThe space between tables must be kept clear of bags during practical work.
bulletSafety is stressed continuously during the course and particularly at the beginning of the year. Many other safety rules are developed in addition to those mentioned above.

Homework

Homework is set every week, collected once a week (usually on the same day) and returned to the students in the following class. Students are required to note down their assignments in their agendas. Homework is graded out of ten.

Tests

Tests are administered at the end of each topic, thus there will be a test about once every 6 weeks of class.

Required books

The following texts are to be purchased – they are used for homework and background reading and do not need to be brought to class except when specifically required by the teacher.

Students are required to bring the following material to class:

bulletA scientific calculator is strongly recommended but not required

Note that some of the students in the integrated science class also take ICT with Mr. Ward.
