Warning: Tetris can
be addictive! My uncle became so addicted to this game that at one
point he was barely able to drive his car anymore for all around him
all the time he had visions of shapes falling and twisting...
I think this is one of the most impressive Scratch
projects in existence. I know you're thinking it must therefore be
one of my own creations but actually no, it was made by someone
else! It's a very good reproduction of the classic Tetris game. I'm
presenting this as an example to show just how good Scratch programs
can be... and how complex the scripts can be. I offer no explanation
at all for the scripting of this game for I don't think is any
chance you would be able to understand it without spending many
hours on it. Just download this project HERE,
take a look at the dozens of scripts and admire them for
their complexity!
One neat feature of this implementation of Tetris is
that it only uses 9 sprites. So how can it be that we see
sometimes dozens of shapes on the screen at the same time? Once the
sprites have 'landed' they stamp their image onto the stage
then disappear, ready to be used again. You might want to try using
the stamp block in your own programs... (you'll find it in the 'pen'
group).
