En fait vous ne pouvez pas trouver l'outil de choix pour être très utile pour travailler avec des photographies, parce que pas beaucoup de photographies se composent des formes simples comme des rectangles ou des ovales. Même si vous prenez une photographie d'un mur rectangulaire, il apparaîtra seulement comme rectangle dans la photo si l'axe de l'objectif est perpendiculaire au mur.

Choisissez le l'outil de choix puis placez le type de choix à l''ellipse '(ovale), le mode à 'remplacent 'et le rayon de changement de pas à 40 Pixel pour donner à un bord très brouillé le choix. Choisissez maintenant le danseur. Si votre choix n'est pas bon ne pas sélectionner alors avec Ctrl-D et essayez encore. Une fois que le choix est satisfaisant, essayez de traîner n'importe quel point à l'intérieur du choix - notez que l'ellipse de choix se déplace et donc faites son contenu, laissant la couleur de fond. Défaites le mouvement (Ctrl-Z). Essayez maintenant Alt-de traîner c.-à-d. maintiennent la touche ALT Et traînent le choix - notez que l'ellipse de choix se déplace avec une copie de son contenu alors que l'image originale n'est pas changée. Défaites le mouvement (Ctrl-Z). Si vous voulez déplacer le contour de choix (le 'chapiteau ') puis choisissez l'outil de mouvement   placent alors le curseur à l'intérieur ou sur du chapiteau, maintiennent le bouton de souris droit, et puis traînent le chapiteau dans une nouvelle position.

Inversez maintenant le choix avec Sélection > Invertir (Select > Invert) de sorte que les bords de l'image soient choisis. Nous sommes sur le point de supprimer le secteur choisi et de le remplacer avec la couleur de fond mais avant que nous fassions donc vous devriez aller à la palette de matériaux (affichage il par F6 de pression au besoin) et placer la couleur de fond à jaune-clair. Supprimez maintenant le secteur choisi en serrant la touche d'effacement sur le clavier. En conclusion, utilisez l'outil d'emblavage pour cultiver l'image.

Let's use this photo (left) of a beautiful hula dancer in Hawaii to practice with the selection tool . We'll put a soft-edged oval-shaped selection ellipse around her, then invert the selection so that everything outside the oval is selected, then we will delete the selection which will cause the deleted area to be replaced with the background colour (yellow). Actually you may not find the selection tool to be very useful for working with photographs, because not many photographs are made up of simple shapes like rectangles or ovals. Now invert the selection with Select > Invert so that the edges of the picture are selected. We are about to delete the selected area and replace it with the background colour but before we do so you should go to the materials palette (display it by pressing F6 if necessary) and set the background colour to light yellow. Now delete the selected area by pressing the delete key on the keyboard. Finally, use the cropping tool to crop the picture.
