| Do you remember how difficult it was to use the Curves adjustment
correctly?
It is so difficult that you might not quite get the right effect with them,
and might want to come back later to change them. Unfortunately,
if you use the History window to step back to the stage where you were using
these controls, you might lose all the changes that you made since then. Is there
a solution? Yes - use an adjustment layer. When you are about to use the Curves
control (and some others too)
think about adding an adjustment layer before you use the control (Layer > New Adjustment
Layer > Curves). In that way, you can adjust the setting of the control at any time,
just by double-clicking the name of the adjustment layer in the layers palette. The adjustment layer
affects all the other layers underneath it.
